Vikings Discover Japan!

The Barony of Selviergard, Oertha--The weather was perfect for Selviergard's Vikings Discover Japan event, hosted by Mistress Rolynnda of the Azure Stone, at the end of the month of March.  People came from both the Barony of Selviergard and the Barony of Eskalya to celebrate an event that never happened but would have been interesting if it did.

After a brief welcoming court, the fighting took place.  Participants were split into two teams; those of the traveling Vikings and those of the Japanese.  The fighters decided on how they would fight each other; one on one, mass melee, or any other combination.  The group that won any of those battles added a bead to their count that would be latter tallied to find out which group; the Vikings or the Japanese, would win the day.

The event also had fun things for the non-fighters to do as well.  From fishing for origami fish and playing with origami sumo wrestlers to creating Viking knotwork and diving for pearls, there was a lot to do.  People who participated in the activities were able to accrue points for their team as well, which enabled those who do not fight to be part of the group as well.

With all of the games and activities planned, many people had plenty to do together as teams or simply as friends.

Feast was held after the busy day's events.  The meal was provided by the populace and consisted of many delicacies and delicious additions from both cultures.

A brief dinner court was held in which the Prince and Princess of Oertha thanked those gathered at the event.  Additionally, the Baron and Baroness, who were not able to attend, sent missives and gifts to both the Princess and the Autocrat and thanked everybody for making it out to the event.

For those who were not able to make it, Halfdan posted some of the pictures he took from the event on the baronial Facebook page.  Take a moment to check them out!
