Selviergard's Fourth of July Parade

Barony of Selviergard, Oertha--What a wonderful day for a parade in Central Selviergard! The weather was warm and sunny, filled with good cheer, and attended by both Selviergard and Eskalya.

The Fourth of July Parade is one of the major activities that the Barony of Selviergard recruits from in the local area. With many people watching the parade; it is a great opportunity to let people know that there is a group near them that participates in the Current Middle Ages.

The day started off getting ready for the Parade with around twenty people participating; complete with banners, flags, and smiles. A couple heavy fighters were in attendance, our very own Baron and Baroness and Sextus Valerius Crusillus, who wowed the crowd with feats of daring and violence.

Through the group effort of Selviergard and Eskalya the Society for Creative Anachronism won 2nd Place in the General Category for Parade Entries. Huzzah! A feat such as this could not have been done without the fighters, the banners, and the massive amount of people who marched through the City of Wasilla under the summer sun.

After the parade; the participants made their way to the information booth to show off what we do in the Society as well as offer a popular game for the kids to try…the Javelin throw! Informational boards were set up to showcase activities from the local groups and focused on Heavy Fighting, Rapier Fighting, Pageantry, and the Arts and Sciences.
