Eskalya Welcomes All…Ghosts Included

The Barony of Eskalya, Oertha--The Barony of Eskalya celebrated the Fall season with a spooky event held in the halls of the famed Castle Inverness…the home of the Lord Macbeth. Held in this haunted venue; the site was beautifully adorned in anticipation of welcoming guests from around the Principality of Oertha. The event featured entertaining decorations, a remarkable tournament, a wondrous feast, and even a restless ghost.

The event opened to the Court of Her Excellency, Baroness Elspeth, who welcomed all with open arms to the event including Princess Isabella and Baron Halfdan. However, there was one more guest that arrived to those haunted halls that made himself known in court; the spirit of the late Fathir von Trier.

After the opening court, and the continued haunting by the spirit, there was a Rapier Tournament in which Donna Étaín O'Rowarke, Tiarna Brann mac Finnchad, and Lady Angela of Eskalya partook in. With rapier, shield, and even an axe, the three fighters dueled each other with ferocity and wit. By the end; it was Donna Étaín O'Rowarke who won the tournament while both Tiarna Brann mac Finnchad and Lady Angela of Eskalya won the "Best Death" competition with much twitching and groaning.

Feast was a potluck with many dishes prepared by the populace and set out with great gusto. The highlight of feast, however, was the interesting and spooky names attached to some of those dishes; lending to the theme of the event in Castle Inverness.

After the scrumptious feast a final court was held. In the court; Baroness Elspeth thanked all who made it out to the Barony of Eskalya to celebrate the season. As the autocrat for the event she then presented the prizes for the various competitions that ran throughout the day. In addition to the Rapier Tournament prizes; Domina Nemonna Vicana won the "Scary Name" competition for her Chili (with fresh Eskalyans, nonetheless), the late Master Fathir von Trier triumphed in the "Original Mask / Makeup" contest, and Tiarna Brann mac Finnchad had the "Best Knees" (voted by the populace, of course).

Baron Halfdan of Selviergard had a few words as well, and after thanking the autocrat for her labors, publicly stated that the haunting of the event and the ghost's message was understood. While some accessories of the late Fathir were found on or near Baroness Elspeth's throne, seeming to point to her hand in foul murder, Baron Halfdan noted Baroness had mentioned before that she believed Winters Gate was the main culprit.  The Baron of Selviergard interpreted the actions of the restless spirit to indicate that Baroness Elspeth was correct in her assumptions of foul play regarding the demise of the third Baron of Selviergard. A full inquisition, led by Rodrigo, was sent by the Baron of Selviergard to learn more about the situation.

Additionally in court, Her Highness honored several members with awards. Mistress Rolynnda of the Azure Stone was inducted to the Order of the Diamond Willow, Jessica of Selviergard was invited to the Order of the Raven's Heart, and Mistress Cynehild Cynesigesdohtor was admitted to the Order of the Polaris.

The event was quite fun to attend; with friendships being renewed amongst the celebrants and revelry at every table. An Evening at Inverness was a fine event to enjoy indoors as the wintery season comes to these lands; even if there was a ghost lurking about. The Autocrat expressed her gratitude to all those in attendance by saying "…many thanks again to all who came and made this event a very fun time."
