Feast of the four Crowned Martyrs

The Barony of Eskalya, Oertha--A warm hall and a sumptuous feast was presented in the Barony of Eskalya; honoring the Four Crowned Martyrs in the style of a fourteenth century extravaganza in an English manor. The event was well tended by both Eskalyans and Selviergardians (with surprise visits from some of our cousins from the Barony of Winter's Gate) as people, excited to taste the various period foods created by Mistress Clare Elena de Montfort and her kitchen staff, came out to enjoy an event to remember.

The event opened with the court of Her Excellency, Baroness Elspeth, where she welcomed the Baron of Selviergard, the Prince and Princess of Oertha, and all who were able to attend. From there, the Autocrat of the event, Mistress Clare de Norwude welcomed all to the hall and enticed the participants with a description of the feast menu that was to come later on that evening.

Also in court; Lord Gavin was awarded with the Order of the Caltrop from Baroness Elspeth's hands and afterwards, she took Ciara der Alcan on as her newest protégé. Their Highnesses also made the announcement that Prince Gregor had been put on Vigil for his upcoming admission into the Order of Chivalry, set to happen at Winter Coronet early next year.

After court, people visited with each other or played various games. The most notable game played, however, was the glaukhaus board that was brought by Mistress Étaín O'Rowarke in which fortunes were won and lost throughout the day.

With such a warm and magnificent hall; the majority of the day was spent working on projects and renewing friendships. People from all over the Principality enjoyed the relaxing day while waiting for a spectacular feast.

Before the Feast of the Martyrs a court was held. In this court the Autocrats and the kitchen minions were thanked for their hard work from both Baroness Elspeth of Eskalya and Baron Halfdan of Selviergard. From there, a Principality court was opened by Their Highness' in which they offered many awards and recognition to deserving populace members.

The Order of the Snowy Owl was offered to Ciara der Alcan, an award bestowed for notable achievements in the Arts and Sciences in the Principality. Lord Gavin Woodward was asked to be Her Highness' Archery Champion, an honor which he humbly accepted.

Mistress Cynehild Cynesigesdohtor was honored with both the newly created Order of the Sandhill Crane for her amazing heraldic talents and the respectable Order of the Argent Stylus for her aptitude with printed letters. Viscount Fergus mac Thomais was honored by Their Highnesses with admission into the Order of Orion Or and Argent for his ability and willingness to teach the Art of Archery. Additionally, Viscount Fergus was invested into the Order of the Ash Leaf, a Kingdom-level award for his ability on the field of battle.

Feast was a three remove course that was served to the assembled populace amid the flickering light of candles. The first course introduced pork egredouce and a pottage of turnips…both of which were done extremely well and offered a glimpse of what was to come for the rest of the feast. The second course was chicken with a variety of sauces and a roast beef alongside a vegetable stew. The third and final course brought the dessert of an extravagant and much anticipated dariole along with other fine dessert items.

The event was spectacular and quite memorable; an activity spent with friends and food in which memories were made, shared laughter filled the hall, and smiles ran rampant. Eskalya showed their prowess in feasts this year, and as Mistress Clare Elana de Montfort noted " I hope all enjoyed the company and food - I was glad to see folks from near and far grace our manor."
