Eskalya's Yule Celebration

The Barony of Eskalya, Oertha--Eskalya's Yule celebrations were a joy to attend. In the spirit of giving, the site fee was donations to the Brother Francis Shelter, many things were collected, thanks to all who contributed! The populace was treated to the aromas of a well prepared meal which included yummy pretzels for snacks during the day.

Court was a quick affair, with only two orders of business. Her Excellency Elsepeth awarded Celestria with the Silver Bough. Their Highnesses, Gregor and Isabella, gifted the children with indoor plushie snowballs. The adults were invited to play as well, and a snowball fight ensued.

For myself, the snowball fight was the highlight of the day. Despite my inability to throw straight, it's not every day that you get the opportunity to fling snowballs at children, adults, and nobility with no repercussions. In fact, so much fun was had that to date, no still photography has appeared, although video was taken of a portion of the escapade.

The Mistress of Ambrosia contest was won by Sheryl of Eskalya, with her entry of a pear tarte.  The Argent Olifant exchange went well; with card woven trim and a lovely purple and gold scarf jumping to the head of the covetted items.

Feast was a delightful affair, with a variety of period dishes, including Cormarye and (fake) Pigeons Stewed. Leftovers were provided to a grateful populace.

There was plenty of time for catching up, browsing books, and other quiet pleasantness. Yule gifts took many forms baked goods abounded, and were joined by ornaments, hand crafted ointments, and spices. All were appreciated.
